The British-built All-New Nissan LEAF has been ranked first out of all 161 electric cars on sale in the UK by Auto Express – and it’s available to test drive now at the showroom.

• LEAF placed 1st of 161 EVs in Auto Express’s market guide, and named the title’s 2026 Car of the Year
• All-New electric MICRA placed 15th, giving Nissan two models in the top 20
• ARIYA placed 69th, praised for its cabin and improved value
• LEAF designed, engineered and built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant

Auto Express reviewed every electric car on the UK market. Reviewers put the third-generation LEAF ahead of every rival. They also highlighted the move from hatchback to fastback, the Google built-in interior, and real-world usability: up to 386 miles of range on the 75kWh battery, with rapid charging up to 105kW.

Two Nissans in the Top 20

The All-New MICRA finished 15th. Auto Express said there is “almost no practical reason” it sits a few places behind its Renault 5 cousin, praising the driving experience, value, interior tech and choice of batteries.

The ARIYA placed 69th. Reviewers noted that recent price cuts have brought it back into contention, and said they still rate the smartly designed, high-quality interior.
